The Agricultural Training and Livelihood Project (ATLP) was implemented by LRC Foundation in partnership with Latia Agribusiness Solutions (LAS) in to improve livelihoods among youth and women in Isinya, Kajiado County through sustainable agriculture and entrepreneurship. The project addressed unemployment, food insecurity, malnutrition, climate-related challenges, and poverty by equipping participants with practical agricultural skills, providing startup capital in kind, establishing community demonstration farms, and creating market and financial linkages.
During Phase II, the project established ten demonstration sites for poultry and kitchen gardening, trained over 3,500 households in poultry production and climate-smart kitchen gardening, distributed 15,000 vaccinated chicks, provided poultry feed and vegetable seedlings, trained community coordinators on poultry disease management, and linked beneficiaries to savings, financial literacy, and local markets. The project significantly improved household nutrition, increased income-generating opportunities, strengthened community resilience, and demonstrated a scalable model for sustainable rural livelihoods.
The project was funded by Faraja Trust and implemented by LRC Foundation and Latia Agribusiness Solutions (LAS). Strategic partnerships with the Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), local community leaders, and producer groups enhanced financial inclusion, technical support, and market access, ensuring that participating households continued to benefit beyond the project period through improved agricultural productivity and stronger local value chains.
